Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have previous Pilates experience?

No previous experience is required.  Pilates is great for the absolute beginner to the most skilled athlete.  Progress will be made at your own pace and the level that best suits you.  In the first lesson you will learn the basic principles of the Pilates Method, which we will continue to explore during the length of the matwork course or studio sessions.

What should I wear?

You should wear suitable clothing that allows you to freely move and feel comfortable. The same sort of clothes that you would wear to a gym or other fitness class. During the session you will work in either socks or bare feet. Please remove shoes before stepping on to your mat or into the studio.

What do I need to bring?

All necessary small equipment that we will use during the Matwork course such as resistance bands, small balls, light weights, rings, rollers will be sanitised and provided if required. However, please bring your own Pilates mat with you to all Matwork classes. It is recommended that you use a mat with a thickness of at least 10mm for Pilates, however if you don't have this, then two Yoga mats may be suitable. No equipment or mats need to be brought to the studio at The Sheraton, everything you need will be provided.

You may wish to bring a small towel and some water to classes. If you haven't paid prior to the course/sessions starting, please bring cash payment, debit card (Interac) or be ready to make an EMT.

What happens if I need to miss a class during my booked Matwork Course?

Once a course is purchased it is non-refundable. However, if you haven't yet started your course all efforts will be made to switch you to a future course of your choice subject to availability.

It is very important that everyone who registers for a course attends the first session, as this is when you learn the principles behind the method, if after this session you have to miss a class you will still be able to carry on with the remainder of the course.  You must give at least 8 hours notice to avoid losing your paid session. If 8 hours notice has been provided, you will be able to make up the lost session at a later date.

How do I carry on with my Pilates classes once the Matwork course is completed?

Seascape Pilates NL offers drop-in Pilates classes* to anyone who has already completed the 5 week Matwork Course or the Studio Introductory Package.  You will be able to pay as you go for the classes you wish to attend, or buy a block of sessions.

*Please note all sessions including drop in Matwork classes need to be booked in advance

What is Seascape Pilates NL cancellation policy?

Due to my small class numbers and being a small business owner I need to insist that you provide at least 8 hours notice if you  are required to reschedule or cancel your booked session/class. Failure to provide satisfactory notice will result in you losing your paid for session or class.
