Upon completion of her BSc in Biology at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Jen Dodds (nee Flynn) left Newfoundland to follow her dreams and explore the world.  Jen first turned to the Pilates Method to find mental clarity and physical balance as the demands of a career as a wildlife conservationist and field operations director intensified. In the practice of Pilates, she discovered the profound connection between the mind and body and this enlightening experience inspired her to spend three years certifying as a fully qualified instructor in England.

In 2012, Jen opened her first studio, The Pilates Garden, which she owned and operated in three different locations in the UK. These next nine years of teaching Pilates abroad taught her invaluable lessons about the human body and its incredible complexity, particularly regarding pain management, injury rehabilitation, and the vital role movement plays in overall well-being.

All awhile, the familiar pull of home remained constant. When the pandemic brought about global uncertainty, it also provided Jen with the long-awaited opportunity to return home to Newfoundland in 2021, when she started Seascape Pilates NL.
